Area introduction
Someron Koirametsä is a haven for dogs nestled in nature. It is located in a spruce-dominated forest, with soft moss and blueberry bushes covering the ground. The terrain of the forest has significant elevation differences without any dangerous cliffs. Natural obstacles such as large boulders and fallen tree trunks provide excellent opportunities for dogs to climb and practice their balance. There are also many twigs and sticks in the forest. A small stream flows in the valley at the back of the area in spring but during summer the forest is mainly dry.
Parking area by the road and accessible entrance
The location is easy to reach, as Someron Koirametsä’s parking area is located by the roadside. The parking lot accommodates four cars. Parking along the roadside is also permitted. The entrance to the dog forest is in close proximity to the parking area. There is a paw washing station at the parking lot.
An accessible entrance opens to a small, fenced foyer area, which also includes an outdoor toilet. However, it should be noted that the outdoor toilet and forest trails are not wheelchair accessible. If you have mobility limitations and would like to drive into the dog forest enclosure, it is possible when there isn’t snow on the ground. Please contact us before making a reservation.
High fence, barbecue hut and benches
A 1.95 meters high fence surrounds an area of over 2.5 hectares, providing a safe environment for dogs of all sizes. The mesh size of the lower part of the fence is 7.5 x 7.5 cm up to a height of about 70 cm, after which it becomes slightly wider, 7.5 x 15 cm. The fence is not deep on the ground, so please don’t allow your dog to dig a hole next to the fence. The fence is regularly inspected to ensure its condition.
At the front of the area, there is a barbecue hut, providing both rain protection and a cozy spot for barbecuing when there is no forest fire warning in effect. There are also picnic table and several benches in the area, offering opportunities to rest or enjoy a meal.
Tranquility of nature in the wind forest
Someron Koirametsä is situated in a naturally beautiful environment, where the Palma wind turbines contribute to the soundscape. The sound of the wind turbines is typically a low hum, but it can vary depending on weather conditions and wind strength. You won’t hear much traffic noise in this forest.
There is no limit to the number of dogs allowed in the forest, so in addition to private visits, you can also organize training sessions, search exercises, or breed meetings in the forest. Familiarize yourself with the guidelines and rules of our area and book your time in the dog forest today.
