Here are brief instructions on how Someron Koirametsä works
- Reservation and payment: Book and pay for your dog forest visit through the reservation calendar on this website. When you book a time slot, the entire forest is reserved exclusively for you. If you do not receive a confirmation email for your reservation, please contact us. There is no limit to the number of dogs at Someron Koirametsä, so you’re welcome to invite a friend and their dogs to join your session, and the price remains the same. The person who made the booking is responsible for ensuring that everyone follows the forest rules.
- Remember the rules: Dogs visiting the forest must be healthy and vaccinated. Please do not bring a dog in heat to the forest. You can reschedule or cancel your booking if needed, in accordance with our terms.
- Arriving at the gate: Please arrive at Someron Koirametsä on time, preferably just 5 minutes before your time slot begins. If you arrive early, please wait in your car or away from the gate to ensure a peaceful visit for everyone. There is a 15-minute buffer between reservations.
- Key box and code: Entry to the fenced area is through two gates to prevent dogs from escaping. The key to the first gate is located in a combination lockbox to the right of the gate. You will receive the code for the lockbox via email two hours before your time slot begins.
- Opening the entrance gate: Unlock the entrance gate with the key you obtain from the key box using the code. Mix the numbers on the key box immediately after opening it for security reasons. Leave the lock hanging open above the key box. Enter the dog forest and close the gate from the inside with the key hanging on the gate to prevent others from entering during your visit.
- Facilities on the premises: You have access to an outdoor toilet and a barbecue hut. In the barbecue hut, you can make a fire during sessions lasting over two hours when there is no wild fire warning in effect. You can check the status of forest fire warnings on the Finnish Meteorological Institute’s website.
- Cleanliness: Remember to clean up after your dog. There are plenty of trash cans and shovels available. Poop bags are available at the gate and in the barbecue hut.
- Departure: Put your dog on a leash before exiting through the gate. Remember to close and lock the gate when you leave.
- If necessary: Wash your dog’s paws at the paw washing station during your own session.
- Providing feedback: Please provide feedback on your visit by completing our survey afterward. You can also leave a review of Someron Koirametsä on Google or Facebook. Every review helps us reach new customers. Thank you for helping us make Someron Koirametsä even better!
Tips for a pleasant visit to Someron Koirametsä
There is drinking water available in the dog park, which we provide for our own dogs during the summer. It can be used when it is available. However, we cannot guarantee that water will always be available. To ensure your dog has something to drink, please bring water for your dog. Make sure to keep your dog hydrated, especially on warm days.
In case of emergencies, there are fire extinguishing equipment and first aid kit at the barbecue shelter. Use the supplies as needed and notify us if you use them so we can replenish the stock.
Visiting the dog forest after dark? The dog forest has lighting, but it only covers a small part of the area, and the lighting system can be unreliable. If needed, there is a battery-powered lantern available in the barbecue shelter. We recommend always bringing a flashlight or headlamp for visits in dim conditions. Reflectors or lighted collars are also helpful for dogs, making it easier to follow their movements in the dark. For a first-time visit, we suggest coming during daylight to become familiar with the area.
If you wish, you can share your visit experiences on social media with the hashtag #someronkoirametsä. You can also mention us @someronkoirametsa, and we can share your story on our account. Tip for Facebook users: If you’d like us to see and share a photo or video you took at the dog forest, make sure to set it to public. If the post is shared only with friends, we won’t get any notification about it, even if you’ve tagged Someron Koirametsä in it.
The forest has become a beloved place for us, and we hope it will be the same for you.
