Location and arriving at Someron Koirametsä
Someron Koirametsä is located in Somero, Southwest Finland. Address: Tuulivoimatie 160, 31400 Somero.
Driving directions
From the centre of Somero, take road 52 towards Jokioinen, then turn right onto Laitiaisentie towards Forssa. After 250 metres, turn right onto Tuulivoimatie and continue for approximately 1.6 kilometres.
Please note that an outdated version of Google Maps may show our location incorrectly and direct you to Tuulivoimatie via Tervojantie. This route is incorrect.
Tuulivoimatie is a private road. Customers of Someron Koirametsä have permission to use it, but please drive slowly. Deer and moose are often seen in the Palma area where the dog forest is located, so please be particularly careful at dawn and dusk.
From Salo, the distance to Someron Koirametsä is approximately 41 kilometres. Drive towards Somero and, from the centre of Somero, follow the directions above to Tuulivoimatie.
From Forssa, the distance is approximately 24 kilometres. Drive towards Torro and continue towards Somero. Before reaching the centre of Somero, turn from Laitiaisentie onto Tuulivoimatie and continue for 1.6 kilometres to the dog forest car park.
Parking and arriving for your booking
The car park is located on the left-hand side of Tuulivoimatie, directly next to the entrance to the dog forest. There is space for four cars. If necessary, you may also park along Tuulivoimatie.
Please arrive at Someron Koirametsä no earlier than five minutes before your booking begins. If you arrive earlier, wait farther away from the entrance and keep your dog in the car. Allow the previous visitors and their dogs to leave before approaching the gate.
There is a 15-minute changeover period between bookings so that visitors can arrive and leave without encountering each other at the entrance.
Recording CCTV is in operation in the area.
Booking and preparing for your visit
Book and pay for your visit through our online booking calendar. During your booking, the entire dog forest is reserved exclusively for you and your group. If you do not receive a booking confirmation by email, check your spam folder and contact us if necessary. The code for the gate is delivered to the email address used in booking.
There is no limit to the number of dogs at Someron Koirametsä. You are welcome to invite friends and their dogs, and the price remains the same. The person making the booking is responsible for ensuring that everyone in the group follows the rules of the dog forest.
Dog health and rules
Dogs visiting the forest must be healthy and vaccinated. Female dogs in heat are not allowed in the forest. If necessary, you can reschedule or cancel your booking in accordance with our booking terms.

Opening and closing the gates
The dog forest is accessed through two gates. The key to the first gate is kept in a combination lockbox on the right-hand side of the gate. You will receive the lockbox code by email two hours before your booking begins.
How to open the gate
- Open the lockbox using the code sent to you by email and pull the key out of the box.
- Use the key to open the padlock on the gate.
- Scramble the number dials on the lockbox so that the code is no longer visible, and close the protective cover.
- Leave the open padlock hanging above the lockbox.
- Enter the enclosed entrance area with your dog and close the outer gate. Lock it from the inside using the key hanging on the gate so that no one else can enter during your booking.
During your visit
You have access to the barbecue shelter and outdoor toilet. You can stop for a snack or take shelter from the rain in the barbecue shelter.
You may light a fire during a booking lasting at least two hours, provided that no wildfire warning is in effect. Check the current warnings on the Finnish Meteorological Institute’s website and read the instructions for using the barbecue shelter.
Keep the forest clean
Pick up after your dog and place the waste in a bin. Shovels and several bins are available around the area. Dog waste bags are available at the gate and in the barbecue shelter.
Place your own rubbish in the bins and take all your belongings with you. Do not leave dog treats, food or toys on the ground.
At the end of your visit
Allow enough time at the end of your booking to catch your dog, wash its paws if necessary and leave the area before your booking ends.
Close the gate and make sure the padlock clicks securely shut when you leave.
Tips for a pleasant visit to Someron Koirametsä
Bring drinking water and a bowl
Bring drinking water and a bowl for your dog. During the summer, containers of water are also available for visitors to use. Water is not available once freezing temperatures begin.
Emergencies and first-aid supplies
In case of emergencies, there are fire extinguishing equipment and a first aid kit at the barbecue shelter. Use the supplies as needed and notify us if you use them so we can replenish the stock.
Lighting and equipment after dark
Lighting covers only part of the area. The main lights at the gate, the barbecue shelter and the path between them are switched on using push buttons and remain on for 30 minutes at a time. Motion-activated lights are also installed in the car park, at the outdoor toilet and along the forest path.
Bring your own torch or headlamp when visiting at dusk or after dark, and use a reflector or illuminated collar on your dog. A headlamp is also available to borrow at the gate. We recommend making your first visit during daylight so that you can become familiar with the area.
